The Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia (MITI) in collaboration with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), all African High Commissions & Embassies in Malaysia and Malaysian African Professionals and Entrepreneurs Association (MAPE) launched and hosted the 1st edition of Africa Business Day, a 2-day event of business activities between Malaysian and African companies.
The Minister of International Trade and Industry (Miti), Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed officiated the opening of the forum.
This international business gathering was held in Kuala Lumpur on 31 October & 1 November 2016 and witnessed the partication of 573 business leaders and champions out of which 194 came from African countries like Gambia, Lesotho, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Benin.
The Eent achieved its aim of creating awareness of business opportunities between Malaysia & Africa, promoting and enhancing bilateral trade partnerships and investments between Malaysia & Africa.
The agenda consisted of series of business seminars, concurrent sectoral workshops, business meetings and industrial visits.
